Apple has released iOS 7 beta and is about to release the final version of its latest firmware. However, that hasn't deterred a new Dev Team known as UnthreadedJb to jailbreak the iOS 5.1 firmware after two years of its release. Call them crazy or whatever, they have released a new working untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4 CDMA running iOS 5.1. As more than 95% of Apple devices in the world are now running the 6 firmware, this jailbreak tool will prove useful to only a very tiny fraction of users only and that too, who use Linux as their operating system.

  • Mac OS X (not released)
  • Windows  (not released)
  • Linux

You will surely be surprised to hear that this is the first jailbreak ever developed for iOS 5.1 because Absinthe 2.0, which was developed by the Dream Team worked only for iOS 5.1.1. We have official confirmation that this software works and is not fake.

If you happen to run Linux and have an iPhone 4 CDMA running iOS 5.1, feel free to get your hands on this new software.

Who is behind Unthreaded JB?

If you have no clue as to who has developed this untethered jailbreak, you might be in for a surprise because it is not developed by iPhone Dev Team, Chronic Dev Team, Dream Team or the evad3rs, instead it is developed by a new group of developers known as UnthreadedJB.

However, it's still unclear if they are a group of developers or just a lone-wolf, hardcore programmer. For all those who desperately need a iOS 6.1.3 or 6.1.4 jailbreak have a reason to rejoice as they have sent out a tweet stating that jailbreaks for these firmwares are under developement. For sure, we are approaching an exciting time.
