It's official folks. Apple has just announced the iPhone 5S handset at its media event in San Francisco. iPhone 5S will come in 3 different colors- space grey, silver and a whole new gold color. Needless to say, the oomph quotient of an Apple device is still maintained and with features like dual-LED flash, iSight camera with a five-element lens and a fingerprint scanner (Touch ID) integrated into home button.

iPhone 5S Features

Ultra-fast A7 Processor

The iPhone 5S comes loaded with a revolutionary A7 processor that is the first 64-bit mobile processor ever created and contains over one billion transistors.

iOS 7 comes with full support for the 64-bit chip and the 32-bit versions as well. XCode, a developers-only utility now supports 64-bit. Even with the advent of a new chip, iPhone 5S will still be able to support those older 32-bit applications along with the 64-bit ones.

A 64-bit A7 chip means the processing power is just double as compared to its predecessor- the iPhone 5. The picture above clearly shows a 40x increase in the CPU performance chart.

Intense Gaming Experience

Graphics and gaming performance are a whopping 56x faster with OpenGL|ES 3.0 support. As you can see above, Infinity Blade III game running on the iPhone 5S with computer-like graphics and performance. Infinity Blade 3 will be available in the App Store very soon.

Battery Life

Now we come to the most important thing of all, the one thing that we all just can't do without- battery life. In iPhone 5S, you get 3G 10 hours of talk time, 10 hours LTE browsing and upto 250 hours of standby time. However, the battery life still remains almost the same as in iPhone 5.

8-MP Camera

Camera comes loaded up with a new, five-element Apple-designed lens with an F2.2 aperture. The usual improvements includes a sensor with a 15 percent larger active area. The interesting part is whenever you capture an image with it, it internally clicks multiple shots and selects the best one.

Apple has incorporated 2 LEDs which work in tandem to get the right color balance off of the flash. As given above, it takes multiple shots, maintains the right light levels and then the sharpest one.

Other new features include burst mode (10 frames per second), HD (720p) slow motion recording (120 frames per second) and a 28-megapixel panorama.

Touch ID

After a lot of speculation, its the feature that will surely kill Samsung as did Siri in iPhone 4. Introducing the whole new, first-ever fingerprint detection system in iPhone 5S- Touch ID. It’s just 170 microns thin and scans your skin layers deeply.

The new fingerprint reading sensor isn't bundled separately instead it has been nicely integrated into our favorite home button. It is made up of sapphire and the steel ring around the home button is a “detection ring” used to activate the Touch ID sensor.

This comes in handy as you just need to touch your home button to unlock your phone. But beware, Apple might store your fingerprint data for government surveillance agencies like NSA.

Movement Tracking with M7 Chip

This one's got to be overshadowed by the A7 processor, but this new M7 chip is a motion co-processor that measures the accelerometer, compass and gyroscope. This feature is actually very useful for application developers because they can utilise the new API to record your position or posture.

Shortly, Nike will release a new application by the name of Nike+ Move utilising the new M7 chip.
