iOS 7 update completely revolutionizes the overall user experience and the iOS operating system as well. iOS 7 also brings a ton of new features to the table such as dynamic wallpapers, parallax effect and a nice GUI refresh. But, all of this comes at a hefty expense, the incessant drain of your device's battery life. After using iOS 7 for some days on iPhone 5, here's a nice detailed guide i prepared for you all. so hit the jump and improve battery life on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

Fix Battery Life Drain In iOS 7

Disable parallax effect and animations

In iOS 7, Jonathan Ive has made sure the world's most advanced operating system includes all the bells and whistles. So, a lot of new animation effects have been added to the user interface this time. These effects are so advanced that they require and access the gyroscope for their functioning, which eats up your battery like anything. You can disable these animations in Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion.

Disable Dynamic Wallpapers

Just like Android, dynamic wallpapers have been added to iOS 7 that look very nice and beautify your lock screen. But they are heavy on your battery as they take up a major portion of your RAM and require more processing power. If you don't have any battery issues, leave them intact, but if you are still facing battery problems, turn them off by navigating to Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness > Choose Wallpaper.

Force Close Apps

While iOS takes care of suspending apps in the background, it’s likely that some apps wake up in the background to fetch content off the network. If so, you can save up on battery life by force closing an app by double clicking the home button scrolling through the apps to find the one you want to close, and swiping up to close it.

Disable Background App Refresh

As most of you are still using older devices like iPhone 4 or iPod touch 5G, your battery can take a hit if you use this feature. Background App Refresh feature allows your applications gather content and updates while running in the background. If you want to disable this feature, go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh > and disable it and free a bit of that battery juice.
Tip: If a particular application is eating up a lot of battery then you can can disable background refresh for that application only, keeping other apps intact.

Disable App Store’s automatic updates

In this iteration, App Store has received the much needed automatic updates feature that runs quietly in the background but it comes with a price, your battery life. if you don't want it to download all the unnecessary updates for your apps automatically, So, it's highly recommended you turn this off by going to Settings > iTunes and App Store > scroll down to the Automatic Downloads section and turn off the “Updates” switch.

Turn Off Location Services:

These services do a eat up a lot of battery, so I advise you to Turn off location services for the apps by navigating to Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services. Regardless of the battery drain, some applications are built around on location data, so don't disable them, of course and just disable those apps that can be used without hassles by not utilizing the location tracking feature.

Disable unwanted indexing in Spotlight search

It's a minor thing, though, but these services keep running in the background and continue to hog battery life of your Apple device. Spotlight search is one of those services and most of us only use it for mainly for searching our contacts and music or apps. So disable the different type of data you don’t want to look for by navigating to Settings > General > Spotlight Search.

Disable Push Notifications

Again, these kind of features add up and hog up your battery and drain it continuously. So, if you don't frequently receive push notifications, disable the feature by navigating to Settings > Notification Center > Scroll to the Include section and turn of the feature for each of your apps individually.

Notification Center
Jony Ive is responsible for the addition of a whole hell of a lot added a lot of new features to the Notification Center in iOS 7. Although, it won't make much of a difference but some of the widgets like stocks and others are useless for most of us, aren't they? So disable these features by navigating to Settings > Notification Center > scroll down to the Today View and disable individual features.

Turn Off 4G/LTE

4G/LTEis one of the most prominent battery predators. If LTE/4G has poor reception in your locality, then consider turning off this feature. (Settings -> General -> Cellular -> Enable LTE).
Restart your device
This happens most of the time, my iPhone 5 hangs. So, to fix this issue, hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Resett your Network Settings:
You can reset your network settings by navigating to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings. Remember, doing so will reset all of your network settings and your passwords.

Restore your device

If you have tried al of the tips listed here and none of them seem to work for you, consider restoring your Apple device through iTunes or by navigating to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase All Content And Settings. Remember, always take a backup of all the information and data on your device before you attempt to restore it using iTunes (preferably) or iCloud.

    Other Battery Life fixes

  • Auto-Lock Interval: By tweaking this timer your iPhone will lock much more quickly when inactive. To tweak this auto-lock interval, go to Settings app > General > Auto-Lock and set the auto-lock interval.
  • Switch off Wi-Fi: Using Wi-Fi will eat up your battery very fast. When it is turned on, it continuously searches for an available Wi-Fi signal. To save your battery from such disasters, To disable Wi-Fi, launch Settings app > Wi-Fi > turn Off.
  • Adjust screen brightness: A bright screen hogs up your battery, so to extend your battery life, you will want to lower screen brightness intensity. If you don;t want to do so, turn on Auto-Brightness that allows your device adjust screen's brightness according to the current lighting conditions. As always, go to Settings > Brightness > Wallpaper and turn on Auto-Brightness.
  • Disable iAds: Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services.
  • Turn off bluetooth: This again drains your juice, turn it off (Settings -> General -> Bluetooth)

  • Turn off equalizer: Settings -> Music -> EQ.
