Winocm Jailbreaks iOS 6.1.4 Untethered On iPhone 5!

Some good news for all you stuck on iOS 6.1.3/4 out there, iPhone 5 has been successfully jailbroken running iOS 6.1.4. As we told you, hacker Winocm has been developing an iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak for both A4 and A5 devices. Although, he earlier clarified that his jailbreak isn't working for iPhone 4 properly, but this hasn't deterred him from developing the jailbreak for A5 devices. Since a few days, the jailbreak community has been abuzz with iOS developer Winocm announcing over Twitter that he has found an exploit for developing an iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak. At the same time, he made it very clear that this jailbreak will support A4 devices only. However, there is some good news for all of you jailbreak enthusiasts out there, this exploit has successfully jailbroken iPhone 4S device running on iOS 6.1.3, and that too fully untethered. A lot of UJB readers have been asking us "Can I jailbreak iOS 6.1.3?"  Well, the answer is yes but here's the catch, redsn0w tool only supports A4 bootrom devices at the moment. iOS 6.1.3 has completely killed the evasi0n untethered jailbreak. If you are using an tethered jailbreak, your device needs to be plugged into the computer to reboot using redsn0w. However, there is still no way out for A5 bootrom devices like the iPad mini or iPhone 5 since there is no available working exploit for them. Hit the jump to continue with the tutorial.

According to a tweet from iOS hacker winocm, the hacker has found an exploit that can be used to develop an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 firmware. This announcement comes at a time when another dev team called UnthreadedJB is also preparing an iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak. Winocm has also made it pretty clear that this exploit is not a full-blown vulnerability, this means it can only untether the existing tethered jailbreak on A4 bootROM devices and will not work on newer devices like iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 5G, and iPad mini. This exploit is successfully working on his iPhone 4 but still requires a lot of work to be packaged into a tool.

A couple of days back, we told you that a new jailbreak team called UnthreadedJB has been hogging all the limelight because of their antics. This team has just released a working jailbreak tool for iOS 5.1 for iPhone 4 CDMA and is now developing an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 and 6.1.4. Most probably, they are a bunch of Russian hackers because untethered is known as "unthreaded" in Russian. They have already released a YouTube video demonstrating the jailbreak everyone has been desperately waiting for- the iOS 6.1.3/4 jailbreak untethered. Hit the jump and check out the video.

A battle of this sort, MuscleNerd pitted against p0sixninja, is no short of a battle between Spartans and Titans. Musclenerd and p0sixninja (Joshua Hill) are currently having a heated argument online at Twitter over the issue of highly misleading information provided by p0sixninja regarding bootrom exploit for A5 devices and iOS 7 jailbreak, as he does every year without fail. Chronic Dev Team Reunites, Might Release iOS 7 Jailbreak

On January 25th, 2013, the Chronic Dev Team officially announced via their Twitter handle that they had disbanded because of some undisclosed reason. But now after the release of iOS 7 Beta, they are back with a bang with announcements for a revamped website and a "surprise". This is an indirect indication towards an iOS 7 untethered jailbreak. The Chronic Dev Team are a serious bunch of hackers who have successfully developed Greenpois0n, Absinthe and other jailbreak tools in the past.

This comes as a breather for Apple TV users especially for ATV 3rd gen users. The motley crew of iOS hackers Baa, roidy and f00b4r have developed a clever hack that goes by the name of PlexConnect, which  simply allows you to run Plex media center on your Apple TV without having to jailbreak your device. Our support team's inbox is flooding with users asking if the icysn0w iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak is legit or fake, where can I download it, the tool is asking for password, etc. As of now, there are many fake jailbreak tools around, which makes it extremely difficult for users to find out which is a working one. Icysn0w fake jailbreak is surely a hoax and you should stay away from it because it could possibly infect your computer with a virus. The software claims to support iOS 6.1.3 which is currently unjailbreakable on newer bootrom devices.

Now, ih8sn0w has updated sn0wbreeze jailbreak tool to version 2.9.14 which supports tethered jailbreak on iOS 6.1.3. This software works entirely like redsn0w but only for Windows at the moment and not Mac OS X. The veteran iOS hacker has also incorporated APTicket validation feature using iFaith in this new build. If redsn0w didn't work out for you, you can try sn0wbreeze for the same purpose easily.

There is some good news and bad news for us this time. The good news is that p0sixninja, veteran hacker and member of Chronic Dev Team, is now working on finding exploits for iOS 7 jailbreak untethered whereas the bad news for all of those who have updated their devices to 6.1.3 firmware as they can't jailbreak for the time being.
