On January 25th, 2013, the Chronic Dev Team officially announced via their Twitter handle that they had disbanded because of some undisclosed reason. But now after the release of iOS 7 Beta, they are back with a bang with announcements for a revamped website and a "surprise". This is an indirect indication towards an iOS 7 untethered jailbreak. The Chronic Dev Team are a serious bunch of hackers who have successfully developed Greenpois0n, Absinthe and other jailbreak tools in the past.
The story so far
Ever since its disbanding, Chronic Dev Team frontman Joshua Hill, also known as p0sixninja, has been working on to find and locate security vulnerabilities and exploits to develop a working jailbreak for iOS 7.
There have been a series of Tweets by the hacker indicating how many exploits he has develop a whole new jailbreak. Take a look at some of his tweets below...
Joshua is indeed a veteran hacker and has been an integral part of many Dev Teams in the past, however, there is a distinct possibility that Apple could have patched all of p0sixninja’s findings in iOS 7 Beta.
What's the "surprise" ?
Now we are left wondering what this so called "surprise" means for us? It might just mean that the team is reuniting and are developing an iOS 7 untethered jailbreak. Until then, stay tuned to UJB and drop a line or two in the comments section below.
