Two days ago, we told you that the new tweaked Apple TV 3,2 comes with a die-shrunk A5 chip instead of an A5X chip. Chipworks has examined the new Apple TV 3,2 and confirmed that the smaller A5 chip has been manufactured by Samsung. This chip measures just 6mm by 6mm and is reportedly being used by Apple as a test for its new low-cost iPhone. See the pictures of the new die-shrunk A5 chip after the jump.
Much intel was leaked about a whole new device marked as AppleTV3,2 when the firmware update for the Apple TV (5.2) was rolled out by Apple. Surprisingly, this revamped device is now released and selling on every Apple Store as well. Our friends over at MacRumors have already got their hands on one of the new Apple TV 3,2 device and have found that it actually contains a die-shrunk A5 chip instead of an A5X processor.
