psp emulator for ios
iOS homebrew fanatics now have a reason to rejoice as the first ever PSP emulator for the iOS called PPSSPP has just been released and is now also available for download. This open source emulator has been developed by Henrik Rydgard along with some other devs. Although, PPSSPP has a very bad frame rate and lags while playing the games. Hit the jump to watch the Wipeout Pure PSP game running on this emulator.

The main reason for the bad frame rate and lag is the use of interpreter emulating instruction-by-instruction instead of JIT (just in time) as used by PPSSPP on other platforms. The developers are facing problems in porting dynamic JIT recompilers to the iOS platform. PPSSPP has been compiled in C++ programming language and translates PSP's instructions directly into optimized x86, x64 and ARM machine code using JIT (just in time).

PPSSPP supports the following operating systems at the moment Android, Windows, Blackberry, Symbian, Mac OS X (coming soon), iOS (in early stages) and Linux (in early stages).

The Sony PSP emulator is still in early development stages and not available for download on the PPSSPP website but if you still want to test it on your jailbroken idevice you can either compile its source code or use the .deb file as given in the PPSSPP website's official forums.
