The Firecore dev team have updated the seas0npass jailbreak tool to untether jailbreak Apple TV 2G running iOS 5.2 firmware thanks to the evad3rs dev team and their kernel exploits. However, it doesn't add jailbreak support for the new 1080p Apple TV 3G. How to jailbreak Apple TV 2G iOS 5.2 untethered using seas0npass

 Step 1: Download the latest version of seas0npass from here. Extract the archive you downloaded and double click the seas0npass tool to launch it. If you are on Windows, right click on the seas0npass.exe file and click Run as administrator option from the contextual menu.

Note: If you are on Mac and using seas0npass tool for the first time, you first need to enable UI scripting. 

Step 2: Click the Create IPSW button. 
Step 3: seas0npass will now download the latest iOS 5.2 Apple TV firmware version.
Step 4: seas0npass will create a custom firmware ipsw file for your Apple TV. 
Step 5: As soon as your custom ipsw file is finished, connect the Apple TV to your computer using a USB cable and put the device in DFU mode by holding MENU and PLAY/PAUSE remote buttons for 7 seconds. 

 Note : The power cable should be unplugged during the process. Connect the usb cable and press the buttons down at the exact same time. 
Step 6: Once seas0npass detects your device in DFU mode, it will upload some files. Then  restore your device to the new firmware.

Have a waffle! You now have an Apple TV 2G jailbroken untethered on the latest iOS 5.2 firmware.
Your device was successfully jailbroken if you can see the Firecore dev team's logo appearing instead of the default Settings icon as shown below.
