iPad's Market Share Sinks Below 40%, Samsung And Asus Catching Up Fast

Finally, some disastrous news for Apple as its flagship tablet iPad has suffered a major setback because of Google's open platform- Android. According to a recent study by IDC, the year-over-year growth of iPad at just 65.3% is not so commendable whereas Samsung and ASUS have a growth of 282.6% and 350% respectively. However, remember that Apple still leads the pack with a major lead above the rest of individual vendors. Moreover, increased demand of the smaller and much-handy iPad mini device skyrocketed Apple's Quarter 1 profits. Take a look at the chart from the aforementioned study below.
With the highly marketed Nexus 7 tablet, ASUS made it to the list of big players like Samsung, Apple and Amazon and that too in the 3rd position.
What I think about this numbers game is iPad has surely suffered a drop in sales but the rage of owning an iDevice is still on with the consumers of almost every demographic. This numbers game will go on but we never know when Apple might pull a trick off their sleeve. Also, WWDC 2013 is starting from June 10th.
