Joseph Brown, a cellular technology and networking expert, has just devised out a clever method that increases, hmm.. just skyrockets your T-Mobile's LTE speed on your iPhone 5 by over a whopping 8 Mbps. For all those using the AT&T unlocked iPhone 5, then there is a high probability that the carrier update to support T-Mobile’s LTE (Long Term Evolution) drastically decreased the usable bandwidth for T-Mobile customers. Kudos to Joseph, this awesome method works for both jailbroken and non-jailbroken devices as earlier these kind of hacks were available just for jailbroken users. So, what are you waiting for, follow the tutorial given below and enjoy greater speeds.
Just take a look at a screenshot and see for yourself. To squeeze such mammoth amount of speed from T-Mobile, just follow the instructions given below. Remember, before you begin with the process make sure you have your iPhone's stuff backed up using iTunes. And yeah, for those folks who are thinking this thing is illegal or stealing, it's completely legal because you are just increasing your mobile handset's signal reception ability to T-Mobile's signals.
How To Increase T-Mobile LTE Speed On iPhone 5
Non-jailbroken devices
1) Firstly, on your iPhone 5, select Settings app and go to General >Reset > Reset Network Settings. After doing this, your iPhone will reboot automatically.
2) Download the hacked carrier update from here
3) Now, your device will launch up in iTunes. Decline every message to update your carrier settings. After this, make sure you enable iTunes to except custom carrier bundles.
4) This step is different for Windows and Mac users, so follow carefully.
Windows users : Open command prompt and then...
For Windows (64 bit), type : cd “C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes” then type : iTunes.exe/setPrefInt carrier-testing 1
For Windows 32 bit, type : cd “C:\Program Files\iTunes” then type: iTunes.exe /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1
Mac users : Launch terminal and type Mac: defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool true
5) Select the tab for your idevice and then click on Update/Check For Update button while pressing Shift key (Windows) or the Alt / Option button (Mac). Now, navigate to the location where you downloaded the hacked carrier update file which goes by the name of "TMobile_US_iPhone.ipcc” and open it.
6) Restart your iPhone 5 and the carrier update has now been installed successfully.
Somehow, if you messed something up and want to revert back to the original settings, download the original file from here and follow the instructions given above once again using the default file instead of the hacked update..
Jailbroken devices
1) Download the hacked carrier update from here. Install this file using iFIle on your iPhone 5.
2) Unarchive the downloaded file and copy the name “overrides_N41_N42.pri”. Go to var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundles/TMobile_US.bundle and paste this in this folder by replacing the original .pri file.
3) Reboot your iPhone to successfully apply the update.
In case you want to return back to the original settings download the default settings file from here and as usual, repeat the above instructions with the default file instead.
The speed increase lies in the range of 4-8mbps depending upon the towers you are connected to and its proximity. Moreover, this stuff also fixes poor signal quality of your iPhone 5.
Worked it out ?

didn't work out, the problem is that every time i ran the command, iTunes opens and closes in less than a second. I also tried as an administrator, same thing. Any advice will be appreciated.

Try adding " -t" after the command. Good luck.
