As all analysts and so-called gurus still continue to comment on the Apple iPhone's reach in the current market, it still continues to maintain its leading position in the current smartphone landscape. According to a latest report from Strategy Analytics, iPhone 5 handset released in September, was the world's best-selling smartphone during the fourth quarter of 2012 estimatedly shipping a whopping 27.4 million units worldwide. The fruit company's iPhone 5 has captured an enormous 12.6 percent market share of all smartphones globally shipped. Apple also shipped 17.4 million iPhone 4S units accounting for its 8 percent market share in fourth quarter of 2012. With this Apple has definitely kicked sand in face of its arch rival Samsung by acquiring two times its current share as 15.4 million units of Galaxy S3 shipped capturing just 7% of the market in 4Q12.
The main reasons for the success of iPhone are the correct timing of its release, clean and crisp design and user-friendly experience of its iOS. Whereas, what seems to have possibly reduced the sales of Galaxy S3 is the speculations of the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S4 which is going to be dropped in mid-2013 for sure.
