Ken Segall, former Apple branding consultant, has shed some light on how the overly predictable naming convention for the iPhone is hurting the fruit company. It all started with the iPhone 3GS, and ever after Apple has added an “S” to the new model every year. This saga still continues as the entire internet has dubbed the next iPhone as the iPhone 5S. Segall says Apple puts all of their major and innovative feaures, which set them apart from the competition, into one model and after some time release the next updated model which is more of a rehash of the original product lacking any kind of new features or major changes.

All of this creates a negative impression on potential smartphone consumers as they might just avoid the ‘S’ models altogether and make a switch to Samsung's flagship Galaxy series running Android with Sony Xperia Z and HTC One also making for excellent alternativesSo Segall recommends that Apple put an end to the sequence, and name its next iPhone the ‘iPhone 6.’

What do you think?

Should Apple change the manner it names its new iPhone models ? Should they name the next model -- iPhone 6 instead of "5S"? Drop us a line in the comments section below.
