Backing up your iOS 6.1 shsh blobs allows you to downgrade your firmware which helps in jailbreaking your idevice. As semaphore updated on his blog, full support for 6.1 version has been added. By default, Cydia will back up and save them, but I recommend you to save them manually, just in case something goes wrong and you get stuck. If you don't know, shsh are what Apple uses to verify the firmware version your idevice is currently running on. Read more for the complete tutorial.

How to save iOS 6.1 shsh blobs using tinyumbrella

Step 1: Download tinyumbrella for Windows and Mac OS X and open it. Connect your idevice to your computer as well.

Step 2: Select your idevice under connected devices from the left side as shown below.

Step 3: Go to Advanced tab, uncheck these two options : Save ALL Available SHSH and Request SHSH From Cydia

Step 4: Change the save SHSH location to a folder of your choice.

Step 5: Click on Save SHSH, and tinyumbrella will begin saving and backing up your blobs for iOS 6.1 and save it to the your desired folder you just selected above in step 4.

If everything goes fine, tinyumbrella will notify you with "shsh successfully saved" after some time. Just for the heck of safety, open the folder you saved them in, make sure it contains your idevice name and your firmware version also.

The main benefit of saving your blobs is that it makes it very easy for you to downgrade to a older iOS firmware version which Apple has stopped signing on. By doing this, whenever Apple releases iOS 6.1.1 version, you will be on the safer side.
